rideontheweb.com Interview

By Interviewer at 01/26/08 21:47

Name of your website?

rideontheweb.com

Your name?

Shane massingham

Your Location (city, etc)

brisbane

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Rideontheweb is an online western horse training website that delivers information to members every month in downloadable format. You can view the website information or download the lessons and articles and review them in your own time.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

I have been involved with training horses and people for 30 years and saw the need to help people in areas there are limited trainers.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

This is my first website. We launched on january 3 2008

How did you decide on a name for your website?

As I am supplying horse training and riding information on the internet I thought rideontheweb.com would be very suitable.

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

I am covering more of the events you would find in the western disipline, compered to other sites.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

To build a large knowledge base for people that are interested in western horses to be able to access.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

We have just launched, so like any new business we are building momentum and success each day.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I would offer the membership at a lessor amount, and include more proffessional video training

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Yes, we could handle thousands of members.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

None so far, as I did extensive market research before starting the site.

What has been your biggest challenge?

To get word of mouth advertising happening, so people become aware of the website.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

PPC advertising and forum posting

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

As I had acquired a large contact list prior to launch of interested people, join numbers maybe have not been as strong as I would like.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

6 months

What is your website address?

rideontheweb.com
