Please give us a short summary of your website?
Baymount Farm is a touch of paradise in the Piedmont region of North Carolina. Our family-owned farm trains and sells top-quality horses that are beautiful and highly people-oriented.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
We realized there was a need for calm, well trained horses that fit the needs of less experienced riders. We understand the best way to reach the public is through internet marketing.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
Our first website was and is baymountfarm.com.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
The subdivision we live in is Baymount Meadows. Our street address is Baymount Acres Drive. It follows that our name would be Baymount Farm, being that we are a 30 acre horse farm behind the subdivision.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
Our website is unique in that we film our training and trail horses to show our public just what our horses can do and how we get them to that point.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
Our goal is to turn out well trained trail horses that anyone can ride.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
We take only as many horses as we can train at one time. We find buyers for what we have before we invest in others.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
As I said before, we only take what we can handle at one time. That may be one horse up to 4 or 5. Each individual horse is unique and takes a unique style of training fitted to that animal. We take our time to ensure the animal is consistent before moving on to the next training step.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
The only unexpected costs are emergency vet care. Headaches would be if a particular individual were unhappy with our program. At that point, it is not a headache really, they are just giving the opportunity to move on. We only want happy boarders and investors.
What has been your biggest challenge?
The biggest challenge has been the seasons. People are not as likely to have their horses trained in the winter months or as likely to buy in winter. However, the best time to train is November through March when the weather is too cold to ride.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Word of mouth. Referrals from people we know, who have bought a horse from us and who we meet at shows.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
I have been very please with our website and the traffic we get from it. The videos we put on it have been a great help.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
We have had the website up a year now and will continue to keep it online as long as we decide to stay in business. Probably until we get too old to train.
