Balage is grass that is baled and wrapped soon after cutting. This minimizes the risk of loss during the rainy season, making it a good alternative source of feeds for equine during the winter season. It's nutritious and horses enjoy it as much as they enjoy ordinary hay, but there are risks involved for horse owners who try it for the first time.
For instance, balage has to be fed to horses a few days after cutting, otherwise it will be spoiled. Here are some tips on how you can successfully feed balage to horses.
